Sedona is beautiful — some would say mystical- and much of its mystique comes from its relative remoteness from the rest of the world, which is somewhat perplexing when you consider that it's centrally located in one of the fastest-growing states in America. While an airport is the namesake of the Airport Mesa Vortex, the Sedona Airport, "America's Most Scenic," remains open only for private planes.
So, if you don't live entirely within driving distance from Sedona, you'll need to fly into a near-ish airport. From nearest to most distance, options include:
01 Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG)
Located just south of Flagstaff proper, FLG is only 25.6 miles away north of the heart of Sedona, or a 40-minute drive without traffic. Once you exit the airport, you can take Highway 89A directly to Sedona.
As of April 2024, only four daily commercial flights arrive in Flagstaff—three from Phoenix (PHX) and one from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), all on American Airlines. Likewise, only four flights depart from Flagstaff (FLG) daily—three to Phoenix (PHX) and one to Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW).

02 Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport (PHX)
PHX is located just 120 miles south of Sedona, so travel time should be roughly two hours. And if you choose to stay in Oak Creek or Camp Verde, your travel time from the hotel to the airport will be shorter.
In peak season, you can fly non-stop from over 100 cities throughout North America daily.
Airlines that fly into PHX include Advanced Airlines, Air Canada, Alaska, Allegiant, American, Breeze Airways, British Airways, Condor Airlines, Contour Airlines, Delta, Denver Air Connection, Flair, Frontier, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Southern Airways Express, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, United, Volaris, and WestJet.

03 Harry Reid International Airport - Las Vegas (LAS)
It'd be easy to lament a lack of options available when you're ready to take the plunge and visit the majestic red rocks of Sedona; consider the trek a part of the journey. A relatively short road trip will give everyone in your party ample time to decompress from the emotional rollercoaster of packing, security screening, and all of the elements included in an airplane journey. By the time you arrive, you'll be ready to receive all of the gifts Sedona has to offer.
Many travelers like to combine their trip to Sedona with a visit to other sites in Southern Nevada, Southern Utah, and Northern Arizona, such as the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. If you're in that camp, Las Vegas may be the best place for you to fly into.
The drive from LAS takes 4 hours and 15 minutes, approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes longer than the drive from Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) to Sedona. The Grand Canyon is located 4 hours and 10 minutes from LAS and 3 hours and 31 minutes from PHX. The Grand Canyon and Sedona are located just over 2 hours away from each other.
