In downtown Detroit, the Grande Ballroom has a long history as a jazz dancehall, dance club, rollerskating rink, and storage facility before it finally closed for good in 1972. The art deco designed building fell into disrepair and neglect; however, in 2018, the Grande Ballroom was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
